Just picked up a free char broil true infrared grill

Aside from burning our first meal because i am not used to cooking on it. I use to cook on a single burner rv grill. It did the job but it was a pain. Mainly the flame kept going out

But aside from rust on the bottom the electric ignition doesnt work and yes i used a new battery but the owner said it went out on him so he used a flame stick to light it. No big deal but it would be nice to fix it. Also need a smaller propane bottle or get another tall one like that since we grill pretty much all the time.

Nice score! If you can fix the igniter, then fix it. If not I’m sure you’ll be just fine. Do you have any other cookers? Or just this one?

Welcome to the forum and to the madness :taz:

Thank you i am not sure what is even wrong with the igniter how would i test i know its not sparking
Unless something is wrong with the dials i cant get them to go below half. I know i got some chicken defrosting so when i get home later its cooking time.

I had a master forge 5 burner grill (had a rotisserie and infrared) that i got rid of (it was free as well but it needed more work then its worth (i didn't have propane at the time to test it, plus the regulator looked melted) i think they used charcoal in it based off the ashes in the bottom?

But the only other grill i have is a single burner that came with my travel trailer. (Will post a pic later) it does a decent job but its small

If it were me I wouldn’t worry about it, I mean if you can light it easy with a stick lighter :dont:

You need a charcoal grill! Burn some wood! 8)

Just tore the switch apart still couldnt unscrew it due to location but she works like normal i take it the owner didn't replace the battery? Now i got to take out the switch and see if it works

I love cooking on a wood pit but i don't think my landlord lady would allow it plus time.

Out here with some chicken on the grill still trying to master this pit :deadhorse: :whiteflag:

I can use a stick lighter but a little bit lazy

Edit apparently taking a photo directly from the camera on this site makes my pictures go that way

it may be the size of the picture, I have had that happen a time or two, when it happens I go resize my picture to smaller than the original and it seems to straighten up.

It was nice cooking on it had some flare ups resulting in some brunt pieces. But overall it was decent even got busy doing other things on my truck (grill temp was at 250*) didn't burn anything minus the flareup burn

never really had flare ups on my single burner rv pit. But took forever to cook on. If you had a lot of food

Question is do i get another 7gal propane bottle or the small one? :dont: i grill every chance i get. Maybe 3 times a week when we have food to cook on it
gonna get a better regulator that tells me how much i have left at some point.

I bought the 50 lb size, it is free of the OPD (overfill protection device) and can be used a lot longer like two or four years between fillups 8)

I cannot remember how many gallon it is, it does get heavy, probably about 3 feet tall 18" diameter. It might be heavy but dont have to handle it very often... :laughing7:
