old smokey 14in charcoal grate

Postby txmike » Thu Oct 03, 2019 11:59 am

i have an old smokey 14 i got to take on family campouts and have a hard time getting real hot fires. also the coals dont seem to always burn all the way. i was thinking maybe the charcoal grate didnt allow enough air flow through the punched holes and was going to replace it with a weber 12in charcoal grate. any one with this little cooker have any recommendations? or do i just need to use more charcoal?

Hey T-Mike, one of our members, Capt'n Jack has an Old Smokey BBQ Facebook Page and a lot of knowledge about these cookers so why don't you give Him a shout at https://www.facebook.com/groups/846970728774053/ with your Questions :?: Tell him OUP said Howdy. :texas:

I can get my Weber Smokey Joe HOT, it's all I use for small burger and steak runs and it works great.
