My Drum Smoker

Postby Fraser » Sun Mar 27, 2022 1:35 pm

Finally got my contraption in cooking trim. My pride&joy is the Tel-Tru thermo and ThermoWorks Billows

Latest addition is the exhaust baffle. It’s a cut down electrical safety plate. Bolt goes thru a spacer and double-nutted below a spring to provide tension.

Would’ve been simpler if I knew how to weld.
Here’s the Billows attached to one of the intakes:

It’s a fan controlled by the ThermoWorks Signals remote thermometer. It uses the pit probe on Channel4 to maintain set temp.

Here’s the ribs ready to go on

Now, that’s textbook thin blue smoke!

Nice work on the pit! Ribs look awesome. I see a lot of comp cooks using barrel pits. Definitely makes it easier to tote.

Love the ribs, but oh my goodness, that drum is a shade tree mechanic’s dream. You are the Rube Goldberg better mousetrap of the day winner. You know, thinking about it, it’s been a while since we’ve had a real hard core Drummer on the space (apologies to anyone I’m not thinking of), so a really cool thing to have a drum Jedi come aboard.

Tru Tels are great I have the glow in the dark version on Rosebud.
BE WELL, BUT NOT DONE
Hank: "Do you know how to jumpstart a man's heart with a downed power line?"
Bobby: "No."
Hank: "Well, there's really no wrong way to do it."
