Leberkäse is a bavarian Speciality, but I do it my way all the time with a little spicy Thai Chillis and some Cheese.
It is best eaten with a Semmel, so the whole meal is called Leberkäsesemmel, which means small bread with (i don´t know, the normal translation would be) meatloaf.
Just a small breakfast

Looks good. Is Fleischkase the same as liverpaste?
I eat a lot of liverpaste. Taste great on a slice of bread with bacon, crisp fried onion, pickled cucumber and pickled red beet.

Leberkäse is translated in all translators with meatloaf or liverloaf.
But I´ve never seen it outside Austria or Germany

Yeah. Found a recipe for it. It said among others corned beef, pork and liver.daBertl wrote:Joernolav wrote:Looks good. Is Fleischkase the same as liverpaste?

Re: Chilli-Cheese-Leberkäse
I love how it translates to "liver cheese" literally of course, it's closer to meatloaf, but it's always interesting to see what visual associations the ones who created that recipe had.
By the way, try it, it IS great. I've tried it during a trip to Germany, and have made a point about buying and eating some of it (and some Currywurst as well) every time I attend a conference in Germany or go there for another reason!

Re: Chilli-Cheese-Leberkäse
Looks almost like a leberwurst. Oma would make some of the BEST liver sausage I'd ever tasted, and I can't stand liver. Lol!
I'd give this sandwich a fair shake.. Definitely try it at least once.
