Great Deal for my Grandson

Postby Rambo » Thu Feb 28, 2019 9:51 pm

My Grandson(32) has been wanting to get a smoker. he has a gas grill but loves my BBQ off the old Lyfetyme. I told him I'd start looking for a deal and found one in Sanger Texas.
I thought, WTH is Sanger and low and behold it was only 25 miles from my Daughter & SNL. It looked heavy constructed and I got a hold of the guy and had him call me. Apparently his neighbor was a welder and got laid off and had to move to another location. He needed some money so this guy bought this pit from him with intentions to use it but he said " I'm just not a cook". he decided he just wanted to get it out of his yard. $150. My SNL went and picked it up today, they had to load it with a tractor. He says it's at least 3/8's plate and it might not make it to Lufkin. I panicked and said " is something wrong with it?" He said yes, it may stay at my house. Anyway, it'll be here Saturday and I'll post more pictures. The Grandson is going to get it sandblasted and painted with High Heat paint. Life is good

That’s quite the score. Can’t wait to see what your Grandson cooks on it.

Nice deal on a good looking smoker. It will look ten times better with new paint and a new temp gauge.
Might think about getting new grates made for it as well.

That's a mighty nice thing to say OUP; I'm certainly not the best but can teach him the basics. I can't wait to see this thing; they'll be here Saturday about noon. I love the shelf the guy welded around it; SNL said it wrapped around and was 12" wide

Yeah, I'm going to check everything, especially the grates. SNL said he even had a charcoal chimney and some sort of extra grate in the main chamber

That was the first thing that caught my eye  BUT now the gray matter is stirring around and I'm thinking of how I could achieve that on my Pit Boss
