Ok this is really weird. The OP with the pics of Oslo, I could see the pics when they were posted. Now nothing. And like everyone one else all I see in the second post is the digital address.

Re: Happy summer - first day of summer holiday
All photos a blank. A pity, they typically get my wife and I turned on about visiting Norway. Someday…
Joe, sympathies on the repair. Mechanics are typically more careful when they have to pay for their own mistakes. It takes a special kind of stupid not to secure a stern drive.
BTW, if boats are deemed expensive, then never let your kids (particularly a young lady) have a horse. They eat money everyday then poop it out, and their stern drive is also apt to come loose and go crazy with no warning, LOL!

I have posted a few pictures from the parliament and the castle again here. Can you see these?

Sorry Joe,
All I see is the BBCode. And when I try to repost it (via quote) I get the an error message (“It was not possible to determine the dimensions of the image. Please verify that the URL you entered is correct”)
It’s looking like the pics only display if you use Tapatalk (I don’t). It might be a Forum setting issue?

Re: Happy summer - first day of summer holiday
Since the boat is still in repair we took a daytrip to a city called Halden, close to the Swedish border.
The city hosts one of Europe's largest and best preserved fortresses.
Up through the years Norway and Sweden have fought numerous wars. This fortress has been in a battle with Sweden and repelled invasions in 1658,1659,1660, 1716, 1718 and 1814.
During the great northern war from 1700-1721 the Swedish king Carl XII tried to attack the fortress 3 times. In the July 4 1716 he stormed the city but the citizens set fire on their houses and repelled the attack. The Swedish king tried a siege but it was a failure because all his supply ships was sunk by the Norwegian naval hero Tordenskiold. Tordenskiold captured 9 and sunk the remaining 4 of Sweden's battle ship and captured 5 and sunk 9 of their merchant ships.
Due to this the Swedish king had to retreat but intent on avoiding another fiasco he attacked again in the autumn of 1718. This was almost a success but when the Swedish king stuck his head up from the trenches he was shot in his head and killed. The remaining soldiers retreated.
Lots of more history. Those who are interested can read more here.

Here are a few pictures of the fortress. All of them, are from inside the outer walls. That shows the size. Hopefully pictures shows.
Sweden is the land to the left of the water, which is a fjord stretching past the city.
Hope the post is OK but since this a BBQ forum this will be my last history post for now.

Best of luck with your repairs, Joe. Boats have been a large part of my life and have owned my fair share. I am currently boat-less which is strange for me. I was always told that "boat" is just an acronym for (B)reak (O)ut (A)nother (T)housand
