My first Tomahawk

Postby JReich » Sat Jul 18, 2020 1:22 pm

I’ve seen them around but never opted to buy one, I just fee like you’re paying per pound and get a bunch of bone. Anyway, the wife surprised me and got one along with some crab legs. Did a reverse sear on it, pulled at 120 and then seared it, it ended up about 133 final temp. It was amazing with some blue cheese and chive butter melted on top. The dogs appreciated the bone. For dessert grilled some peaches and wife made a habanero honey butter glaze, it was amazing with some ice cream.

Great looking meal. How do you like the HC Black?

This was my second time using it and it is growing on me. I’m usually a salt and pepper only guy. My BIL got it for me and I do like it.

Oh dang! Me and the dog would wrestle for that bone.

I’ve tried the HC black once. Seemed like it was missing something. Next time I’m going to kiss it with a little SPG and see what it taste like

I did dry brine it with salt for about 5 hours before going on the grill. If nothing else I do like the color contrast the HC black gives it.
