Wood Storage Racks

Postby caprice35@juno.com » Sun Sep 20, 2020 12:41 pm

Looks like this is the place to ask. About to build a rack/shed to store wood in and was wondering what y'all have going on here.

I have three different sizes of this brand:

A 2ft I keep next to my fire pit, a 4ft where I store my wood for competitions, and an 8ft for general wood storage.

A good idea. Just make it so that the wood does not lie on the ground, but is above it. And make good ventilation, so that if suddenly there is dampness, the wood does not rot, but dries out normally. The first time I made such a mistake, I wrapped firewood with a tarp for the autumn-winter. As a result, in the spring everything was in such a state that I did not dare to use such wood for cooking. The mold would certainly have burned at the stake, but still. Maybe it's a bias.

Here’s a design for the do it yourself that a retiree built for me a number of years ago. Made of cedar. Horizontal cross braces underneath the wood logs that you can’t see. The other members were half cuts that were mated into each other at the joint.

Bucees sells a nice small-medium sized one. I picked one up Friday in Baytown.

That’s what I have. Really like it too. It was about $100 if I remember correctly

The one I picked up Friday is a little smaller than those they used to have. It's still pretty nice, tho I wish they carried the older ones. ~$80 now
